Suga (Min Yoongi) is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, and music producer under Big Hit Music, a subsidiary of HYBE Labels. He is widely recognized as the lead rapper of the Kpop group BTS, one of the most influential acts in global pop music.
Before his mainstream debut, Suga was active in the underground rap scene under the name Gloss. He began producing music at the age of 13, eventually joining BTS in 2013. As a soloist, he adopted the moniker Agust D and released his self-titled debut mixtape “Agust D” in 2016, earning critical attention for its raw and introspective themes.
In 2020, Suga released his second solo mixtape, “D-2,” which debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200, setting a new record at the time for the highest-charting release by a South Korean soloist. The mixtape was praised for its blend of social commentary and personal reflection.
His first official solo album, “D-DAY,” dropped in 2023 and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The title track, “Haegeum,” became his fourth solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album itself topped Billboard’s Top Album Sales Chart.
Suga launched his “D-DAY” world tour under the Agust D name in April 2023. The tour concluded in August 2023 and became the highest-grossing concert tour by a South Korean soloist, generating $57.2 million from 28 sold-out shows across the U.S. and Asia, according to Touring Data.
