NewJeans is a five-member South Korean girl group under ADOR, a subsidiary of HYBE. The group was formed and produced by Min Hee Jin, a former creative director at SM Entertainment known for her work with groups such as Red Velvet, f(x), EXO, Girls’ Generation, and SHINee.
They officially debuted on July 22, 2022, with the single “Attention”, followed by their self-titled mini album on August 1. The group quickly rose to prominence as “monster rookies”, achieving significant domestic and international chart success.
In July 2024, ADOR announced that NewJeans would be going on hiatus following plagiarism allegations concerning their song “Bubble Gum”. Later that year, on November 28, the members held a late-night press conference announcing their decision to leave the agency. After a lengthy legal battle between NewJeans and ADOR over the validity of their contracts, the court ruled in favor of the agency on October 30, 2025, upholding the contracts and confirming that all members would remain under the label until 2029.
