IZ*ONE was a twelve-member project girl group formed through the survival show “Produce 48”. The group promoted for two and a half years under Off The Record Entertainment and Swing Entertainment before disbanding in 2021. The final lineup consisted of Jang Wonyoung, Miyawaki Sakura, Jo Yuri, Choi Yena, An Yujin, Yabuki Nako, Kwon Eunbi, Kang Hyewon, Honda Hitomi, Kim Chaewon, Kim Minju, and Lee Chaeyeon.
“Produce 48” aired from June to August 2018, with the top twelve contestants, led by first-place winner and center Jang Wonyoung, debuting as IZ*ONE. Several members already had industry experience, including Miyawaki Sakura, Yabuki Nako, and Honda Hitomi from the AKB48 system, and Kwon Eunbi, formerly of Ye-A.
IZONE officially debuted on October 29, 2018, with the mini album COLOR*IZ, and announced their fandom name “WIZ*ONE.” The group experienced a hiatus in late 2019 due to a vote-rigging controversy involving the Produce series, but resumed activities in February 2020.
IZ*ONE disbanded on April 28, 2021, after completing their contract period.
