Introduction

BIGBANG is a South Korean boy group formed by YG Entertainment. Originally debuting on August 19, 2006, at the YG Family’s 10th Anniversary concert, the group was initially a five-member lineup. Following the departures of Seungri and T.O.P, the group now consists of G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung. BIGBANG’s formation was documented in the series “Big Bang Documentary” in 2006. The group initially included six members, but one was eliminated before their official debut.

BIGBANG achieved early success and the group expanded internationally, particularly in Japan, where they earned awards like the Japan Cable Broadcasting Award for “Best Newcomer” and the Japan Records Award. By the end of 2009, BIGBANG had become the most searched artist in South Korea.

Between 2009 and 2011, the members pursued solo projects, with Taeyang, G-Dragon, and Seungri releasing solo music, while T.O.P and Daesung focused on acting. BIGBANG’s popularity reached new heights in 2011 with the release of “Tonight,” followed by the successful album “Alive”, with tracks such as “Bad Boy”. and “Fantastic Baby”.

The group took a hiatus in 2013 and returned in 2015 with the MADE project, releasing a series of singles and touring internationally. Their third full-length album was delayed until December 2016 to include additional content. In 2018, they released “Flower Road” as a gift to fans.

In 2022, BIGBANG returned with “Still Life.” T.O.P’s exclusive contract with YG Entertainment ended in 2022, and he confirmed his departure from the group in 2023, reducing the lineup to three members. In January 2024, BIGBANG’s profile was removed from YG Entertainment’s website, suggesting a possible departure from the agency. Despite these changes, the group reunited at the 2024 MAMA Awards for performance, continuing their influence as one of the most impactful boy groups in K-pop.
