Irene

Introduction

Bae Joohyun, popularly known as Irene, is a South Korean singer, rapper, dancer, and actress under SM Entertainment. She is best recognized as the leader and visual of the Kpop girl group Red Velvet and a member of its sub-unit Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi.

Irene debuted with Red Velvet on August 1, 2014, with the single “Happiness”. In July 2020, she and fellow member Seulgi formed the group’s first sub-unit, releasing the mini album “Monster”. She later made her solo debut on November 26, 2024, with the mini album “Like A Flower”.

Beyond music, Irene has pursued acting and television hosting.2 She made her acting debut in the 2021 film Double Patty and starred in the 2016 web drama Women at a Game Company. She has also hosted Music Bank (2015–2016) and variety shows like Laundry Day (2016–2017). In 2022, she launched her solo reality show, Irene’s Work & Holiday.
