Daesung

Introduction

Kang Dae-sung, better known by his stage name Daesung, is a South Korean singer, actor and television host. Daesung made his musical debut in 2006 as a member of the South Korean boy band Big Bang. He is best known as BIGBANG’s power vocalist.

He made his solo debut on June 16, 2008 with the single “Look At Me, Gwisun”.

On July 25, 2019, it was reported that a building in Gangnam, that Daesung purchased in 2017 before his military enlistment, have been operating illegal entertainment business. The next day, Daesung released an apology statement and claimed that he was not aware of it as he had started his military service right after purchasing the building and that he would be taking legal action against tenants who committed the illegal acts. In January 2020, all charges against him were dropped due to a lack of evidence and legitimate knowledge in the case.

Daesung released his first solo EP, “D’s WAVE” on April 8, 2025. To promote the EP, Daesung embarked on his first solo concert tour, “DAESUNG 2025 ASIA TOUR: D’s WAVE”. The tour included 14 performances across 11 cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Hong Kong, Kobe, Singapore, Sydney, Macau, Yokohama, and Kaohsiung.

An encore concert titled, “Daesung 2025 Asia Tour D’s WAVE Encore – Seoul”, is scheduled for January 3 and 4, 2026, at ticketLINK Live Arena (SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium), as announced by his label.
